This week we jump to 17th century French literature. I open up with a discussion on social patterns of the 17th century in France before moving into some fairy tales that illumine how these norms pervaded the literature. I also discuss the salons and academies, which arose at the time, before moving into Moliere’s “The Misanthrope”.
