[From 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday]

Started off the show with the usual events roundup, then a tune from Marc Berger’s album “Ride” – “A Bottle Of Wine, A Suitcase, An Umbrella” – since he’ll be back at Cyber Cafe West in Binghamton at 9 p.m. Friday.

Then there was a fun interview with local singer/songwriter JimmyJohn McCabe, who performs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Wednesday at Fitzie’s Irish Pub in Binghamton. We even premiered a couple of tunes from a project called F1, recorded in 2006 but may finally get released this year. Here’s what we played:
“Will You Be Mine”
“Sweet On You”
“Road to Montreal”
“Keep Breathing” (F1)
“On File”
“Where We’re Going” (F1)

From there, we did a new station ID and track from the Tejas Brothers – “Chasin’ Down the Devil.”

Then a little tribute to a few winners of the Kerrville New Folk Competition who I happen to know.
“Blackbird” – Ellis Delaney (NEW)
“Dirty Trucks” – Paul Sachs
“Two Yellow Roses” – Ed Romanoff

More new tunes:
“Pity Song” – Melissa Ferrick
“Little Lost Bird” – My Sweet Patootie
“Letter from Down the Road” – Della Mae
“Drives Me To Drinking” – Underhill Rose
“The Owl and the Full Moon” – Adam Marsland

And finally, a mostly unplanned half-hour of Kinks-related tunes:
“I Saw the Light That Day” – The 88 (NEW)
“Little Green Amp” / “Midnight in LA” – Dave Davies (NEW)
“Mr. Spaceman” – William Shatner (featuring Dave Davies)
“Hymn for a New Age” / “The Real World” – Ray Davies

Next Tuesday at 7 p.m., I’ll chat with singer/songwriter Peyton Tochterman, who performs June 8 at 6 On The Square in Oxford.

Gmornin’ gang! I hope everyone is well! Today is an important day! Do you enjoy your civil liberties? I dang well know I do! Thank a Veteran!!!! Not just today…..everyday!! I saw a few soldiers at the airport a while back, and I thanked them. They told me they weren’t used to getting thanked? What the hell is wrong with that picture? Treat all veterans with respect please! I was fortunate enough to miss the Vietnam war. I had friends who came back from the Vietnam war, that will never be the same. My one friend “Rick” was a Marine sniper. What a horrific job. You know what snipers do right? Rick was lethal at his job. Whats my point you may ask? Rick came home and got married and had a family…..and I am SO thankful he had some semblance of a “normal” life. May God bless all of our veterans….NOT just today!!! If you see a Vet…..Thank Them!! tell 'em the Zoner sent you! Everybody have a great Memorial Day!!! Ill be back and better than ever next week. As always thank u for tuning in WHRW FM 90.5 Binghamton!!!

Fabulous chat tonight with jazz guitarist and singer/songwriter Leni Stern about her life, her music and her new album, “Smoke, No Fire.” She performs Friday night at 6 On The Square in Oxford; learn more about that show at and more about Leni at Here’s what we played of hers:
“Smoke, No Fire”
“Awn Te Kalo Ye”

Then, after the events roundup, Press & Sun-Bulletin correspondent and Binghamton U. student Mike Giordano discussed his story about Friday’s show from Bow Thayer & Perfect Trainwreck at Cyber Cafe West in Binghamton. Learn more at and We played two songs from their new CD, “Eden”:
“Inside Joke”
“The Beauty of All Things.”

And we capped it off with one more track from Leni: “Spirit in the Water” (featuring Kofo the Wonderman).

Next Tuesday at 7 p.m., I’ll interview singer/songwriter Erica Leigh about her new EP, “Puzzle Heart.” And since tonight was the last show of the spring semester, it means we’ll be back to three-hour shows starting next week. More time for new and different tunes.
