Tho’ the weather outside was frightful, the music inside was delightful. And like the US Postal Service, thru rain, sleet, snow and ice, the show was delivered. I made a humble effort to keep the festive music of Jibaro Jazz alive tonight before doing my show, hoping not to disappoint snow-bound host Ferdinand Montalvo’s avid listeners. I don’t know if I succeeded, but I had a blast. What we heard from 8:10 to 10:

This song is dedicated to Nelson Mandela former South African President and anti-apartheid leader who passed away on Thursday December 5, 2013. Nelson Mandela spent 27 years as a prisoner in South Africa for opposing apartheid. He was released from prison on February 11, 1990, emerged to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and in 1994 became the first black President of South Africa. He was an enduring symbol of integrity, resilience and in my opinion one of the greatest people to have ever lived. This song is entitled Follow Me by Aly-Us and reflects Nelson Mandela’s vision and mission in life. Please listen to or read the words of this song while reflecting on the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela.

Aly Us – Follow Me (Dedicated to Nelson Mandela)

I’m hoping to see the day
When my people
Can all relate
We must stop fighting
To achieve the peace
That was taught in our country
We shall all be free

Follow me
Why don’t you follow me
To a place
Where we can be free
Come with me
Over there
Let’s put an end to racial hatred

And there’s love to share
Can you feel it
It’s in the air
Know its time for changes
Time for us to care

Follow me
Why don’t you follow me
To a place
Where we can be free

Where we’ll all be free
